UJ Admissions Requirements for Undergraduate
The University of Johannesburg’s admission requirements for this year are listed here. Before submitting an application, applicants should read it thoroughly.
ALL INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ARE TO TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Submit a completed application form with supporting documents
- Final School results
- Valid Passport or Identity Document or Birth Certificate
- Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
- Provide proof of a non – refundable Application Fee R200.00
- Provide proof of the English Proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching (the University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programmes) Alternatively, you may elect to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP). Should you choose to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP), Mr Malibongwe Masango will be the contact person for UJELP. - In case were both first and second choices were unsuccessful, International Admissions office will offer an international applicant an alternative choice option when meeting the requirements
- Should you require on campus accommodation, please submit a completed residence application form at the same time you apply to study at UJ
Applicants who are currently studying or have previously attended a university within or outside of the Republic of South Africa must provide an academic transcript covering the whole term of study, particularly if they wish to be excluded from modules or courses at university.
Degree seeking students
In order to study for a South African degree applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All International applicants with high school qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate studies. The following supporting documents must be submitted to the Matriculation Board on the address provided below;
- Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
- Correctly certified copies of the applicants educational qualifications certified by a South African High Commission,
- Consulate, Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
- A correctly certified copy of your passport or birth certificate certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate,
- Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
- Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
- Exemption fee as determined by the Matriculation Board (see website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
- Submit proof of payment for the Exemption fee of R562 payable to the banking details
