The National Student Financial Assistance Program (NSFAS) is based on the National Student Financial Assistance Program. NSFAS is a scholarship program that provides free higher education and training to poor South African workers and students, and provides full scholarships.
NSFAS’s vision is to provide financial support for students from poor and working-class families to study in TVET and public universities.
On December 16, 2017, President Jacob Zuma announced that the South African government will gradually abolish “free and fully subsidized higher education and training for poor and working-class students in South Africa.” bottom. The fund is gradually allocated over five years to establish the Ministry of Education and Training (DHET) scholarship program. Grant
DHET will cover the following learning-related expenses:
- Enrollment fee
- Tuition
- Textbook grant
- Required learning materials (up to a certain amount, determined by NSFAS)
- Subsidized housing (up to a certain amount) Amount, determined by NSFAS)
- Provision for food
