NSFAS Balance
The National Student Financial Assistance Program (NSFAS) is based on the National Student Financial Assistance Program. NSFAS is a scholarship program that provides free higher education and training with full subsidies for South African workers and poor students.
NSFAS’vision is to provide financial support to students in poor and working class families to study at public and TVET universities.
On December 16, 2017, President Jacob Zuma announced that the Government of South Africa will phase out “Fully Subsidized Free Higher Education and Training for South African Poor and Working Class Students.” bottom. The fund was gradually allocated over a five-year period to establish the Ministry of Education and Training (DHET) scholarship program.
