How to register CPUT Online 2023-2024
It was formed in January 2005 from the merger of the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon, following years of change in the higher education landscape of South Africa. In 1993, the Technikons Act was promulgated, which allowed technikons to offer bachelor’s degrees (B.Tech), master’s and doctoral degrees in Technology. In March 2001, Kader Asmal (then Minister of Education) announced the National Plan on Higher Education, and in May 2002 he announced the possible merger of the two institutions, with the national working committee also recommending the University of the Western Cape to be included in the merger. Towards the end of 2002, the final merger was announced, and in October 2003 the new name was approved. The Executive Interim Management was appointed towards the end of 2004.

Online applications to study at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2023 have been open since 15 April 2023. Selection courses will close on the 31st July 2023. Non-selection courses will close on 30 September 2023.

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consists of the following:

- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

Start at step 2 if you already have a student number
- Go to the online application platform
- Click on New application
- Click on Create new student number and complete all the fields
When you receive a student number, use that together with the PIN number you created to log in
Complete all the fields. Use the yearbooks to obtain more information about the qualifications, modes of delivery and curricula.
Undergraduate students
In order to consider your application, please upload the following supporting documents. If the application is incomplete, it may be declined by the University:
- Grade 12 results, Grade 11 results (final results only) or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
- Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
- Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.
