About Hatch
Hatch was founded in 1955 as “W.S. Atkins & Associates” at that time, it is an international multidisciplinary engineering, development and management consulting firm. It wasn’t until 1962 that the company changed its name to Hatch, which was the result of being employed by Gerry Hatch. The group has 65 offices on 6 continents and more than 11,000 employees. Today, the company is one of the top 20 mining and metals companies in the world.
Hatch comprises three main industries: energy (including oil; natural gas; renewable energy; thermal energy; nuclear energy; hydropower; oil and gas infrastructure and energy transmission and integration), industry (including coal; iron ore ; iron and steel; phosphates; nickel; copper; uranium; metals and minerals; gold; silver; diamonds; aluminum; alumina and bauxite; magnesium; lithium; potassium; titanium and titanium dioxide and lead, zinc and tin) and infrastructure ( including railways)) Transportation systems; tunnels; Transport and logistics; roads and bridges; urban solutions; ports and oceans; aviation and water and natural environment).
Hatch provides full and partial scholarships to students who are studying and want to pursue a career in the field of engineering consulting.
Scholarships will be awarded to students currently studying in one of the following fields:
- Civil Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Metallurgy Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Process Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- Systems Engineering
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric
- Studying full time in one of the aforementioned Engineering fields of study
- Achieved a minimum average of 65%
- In second to final year of study (the bursary will not fund first year studies)
- Advanced analytical skills
- Problem solving skills
- Able to think laterally
- Innovation skills
- Teamwork & leadership skills
- Enjoy working within a dynamic environment
