Flavius Mareka TVET College was founded in 2000 when Sasolburg Technical College, Kroonstad Technical College, and Mphohadi College of Education merged to form Flavius Mareka TVET College. Mr. Flavius Mareka, a significant figure in educational, cultural, and political circles, was the inspiration for the college’s name. He was born in Kroonstad and died in 1965.
Flavius Mareka TVET College is one of 50 public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges in South Africa, operating under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The College is one of the largest Technical and Vocational Education and Training service providers in the country, specializing in priority skills development.
Flavius Mareka TVET College has three campuses. The Sasolburg campus has two sites specializing in Engineering Studies and Business Studies courses respectively. The other two campuses- Kroonstad campus and Mphohadi campus- are located in the Kroonstad area.
Apart from offering full-time and part-time formal programs at its three campuses, Flavius Mareka TVET College is also proud of the fact that it takes education and training to communities. A number of leadership and skills programs are offered throughout the Free State province in smaller towns, such as Heilbron; Parys, Koppies, and Villiers.
