The campus was established in 1981 but learning and teaching started to take place in 1983 under the banner of Prince C.N Mahlangu Technical College, named after Prince CN Mahlangu King Mayisha the 2nd.
The name was changed to Ndebele Vocational Technical College and later to C.N Mahlangu Technical College until the merger took place in 2003 with the other three colleges within the region to form Nkangala TVET College and it being CN Mahlangu Campus.
During the Ndebele Vocational Technical College era, it build and established Mareleng Primary school, Phuthikwena Primary school, KwaMhlanga Teachers’ Center, and Toitskraal Laerskool Hall using its student as part of practical exposure. The college used to train artisans in Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing, and Pane-beating from the Department of Public Works. The college was a special center of training for presenting Business and Engineering Nated courses with student’s enrolment of around about 400.

Requirements Needed for CN Mahlangu Online Application
The following are very necessary and will be demanded from everyone applying to the college:
- Certified ID copy of Applicant
- Latest School Results/Qualifications
- Certified ID copy of Parent/Guardian
- Proof of payment of admission fee
- A unique Email address and a cellphone number
Have the following before applying to Nkangala TVET College:
- Proof of payment of your registration fee. Compulsory for all applicants.
- SA citizens are required to provide certified copies of their identification documents/birth certificates. International applicants are required to provide their certified passport or their passport numbers. Applicants without these things, applications will not be processed.
- Exam Results: Copies of grade 11 and 12 results must be attached to your application. Applicants with grade 11 results prior to sitting for grade 12 examinations can still apply.
- Remember you will need an unmatched email address when applying either online or in a hard copy.

Step 1: Get your application form at the Capricorn TVET College campus and submit it while there.
Step 2: Complete your application form in full and return it to the campus. Ensure that you submit your form BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE and provide ALL requested supporting documentation.

Step 3: Attach all supporting documents.
The following documents are required and must be included in the post with your application form:
- Proof of residence
- Certified copy of guardian\parent ID
- Latest Academic Results
- Student certified ID
Step 4: Find Funding.
Qualifying applications will then be submitted to the Capricorn TVET College Bursary Committee for consideration. Bursaries will be awarded based on financial need and academic performance.
