About Alfred Nzo District Municipality

Alfred Enzo District City is located on the northeast side of Eastern Cape Province and is one of the six districts in the province. The Alfred Enzo district municipality extends from the Drakensberg Mountains to the border of Lesotho, and the Sizonke district municipality is located with the O.R. Tambo district municipal government.

The city is named after Alfred Baphethuxolo Nzo, who served as Secretary-General of the ANC (African National Congress) and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Nelson Mandela Cabinet from 1994 to 1999.

The Alfred Enzo District Municipal Government Scholarship will provide funding for the following students in the following areas (because they are rare and critical skills):

  • Bachelor of Science in Community Water and Sanitation Services
  • Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Management
  • Maritime Studies
  • Geographic Information System
  • Urban and regional planning

 Other water-related qualifications and sanitation

Scholarship recipients will be notified by January 31, 2023 at the latest. If you have not received any feedback, please consider your request as unsuccessful.

Documents needed To Apply Alfred Nzo District Municipality External Bursary

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Reside within the Alfred Nzo jurisdiction area
  • Between 16 and 35 years old
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Iintend on studying at a recognised South African tertiary institute
  • Proven financial need
  • Excellent academic record
  • *Preference will be given to disadvantaged students

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Alternatively, application forms can be collected from the following locations: ANDM offices/ local municipalities (within Mbizana, Ntabankulu, umzimvubu and Matatiele) and Ward Councilors.
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Proof of enrollment or proof of acceptance to study at a recognized tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence from your Ward Councillor
  • Parents proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ death certificate if deceased)
  • Motivational letter
